The most striking feature of the Brother HL-2030 monochrome laser printer is its extremely compact size. This makes it very suitable for personal use or even for a very small office where space is at a premium. Its price is low enough for just about any budget, and affordable printer toner keeps costs down over the long run. The HL-2030R model adds an ethernet port for connecting it directly to a network.
Buyers who use an operating system other than Windows will be glad to know that the HL-2030 is cross-platform compatible, with drivers for Mac and Linux computers. The control panel could not be simpler, with a single button and 4 indicator LEDs to display important information. The rest of the options and features are handled by the software. The unit measures 6.5 inches by 14.6 inches by 14.2 inches and weighs only 14.3 pounds. With its ultra-compact frame and light weight, it could feasibly fit on a book shelf if other space is not available.
Anyone who has maintained a laser printer before knows that replacing toners can be a major factor in the overall cost of the machine. Brother HL-2030 toner cartridges have a page yield of up to 2,500 pages and they are very affordable. Combining the low cost and high page yield means that Brother HL-2030 toner cartridges have a lower cost per page than many competing units. Using compatible Brother HL-2030 toner will save even more than using the OEM versions.
User reviews of the HL-2030 are generally very positive. Users praise its compact design and affordable price, as well as its general reliability. Some users mentioned a problem with paper feeding after some time, but this seems to be a rare issue.
Overall, the HL-2030 is a small and affordable solution for the home user or small office with limited space. The low cost of Brother HL-2030 toner adds considerable value, and its fast print speeds and excellent print quality make it a great choice.

The Brother HL-2030 is the slower of the three models in its line, at only 16 pages per minute, but it is also the least expensive, and its compact design makes it an excellent choice for personal use in a home or small office. It holds 250 sheets in its main tray, with a single-sheet manual feed slot.
If you notice the toner LED flashing, your HL-2030 toner cartridge is running low. When it remains solid, it is time for replacement.
Start by pressing the power button to turn the HL-2030 off. Pull the front cover toward you and grab the handle to pull the cartridge assembly straight out.
The Brother HL-2030 toner cartridge is contained inside the drum assembly and must be removed. Place the assembly on a piece of paper to protect the surface, then push down on the blue lock lever to remove the cartridge.
Remove the new HL-2030 toner cartridge from the box and remove packing materials. Then rock the cartridge from side to side to distribute the toner. Now remove the protective cover.
Place the HL-2030 toner cartridge into the drum assembly until you feel it lock into place. The blue lever will snap upwards slightly.
When replacing the cartridge, you should also clean the corona wire. Find the blue tab at the rear of the assembly and slide it back and forth several times. Then lock it back into place.
Gently push the assembly back into the printer and close the front cover. Turn the machine back on, and you should see that the toner LED light is no longer lit and that the printer has recognized the new cartridge.
You are now ready to resume printing with your Brother HL-2030 printer.
