Brother HL-1112 Printer Review
The Brother HL-1112 is a personal laser printer with a sleek, black exterior that will blend in with its surroundings quite nicely. Maximum speeds of 21 pages per minute make it one of the fastest in its price range, though it lacks any networking options for sharing. Brother HL-1112 printer toner is fairly affordable, but some users might find its capacity a bit limited.
Variations of the base model include the HL-1112E and the HL-1112R, with ethernet and extra paper capacity, respectively. The basic model includes only a USB port, however, and is not upgradeable. The input paper capacity is also limited to only 150 sheets at a time, which some prolific users might find to be a problem.
Though the output resolution is limited to 600x600 dpi, the enhanced resolution is 2400x600 dpi, which results in very good print quality. The Resolution Control feature can also help users reduce their usage of Brother HL-1112 toner when documents don't need to be the highest possible quality. The unit itself measures 7.4x13.4x9.4 inches, and it weighs only 9.9 pounds, which makes it simple to set up and to move around the office. Its light weight even makes it a great choice for transient college students.
Instead of the multiple toners of color models, only one Brother HL-1112 toner cartridge is needed, and prices are reasonable. Each replacement Brother HL-1112 toner cartridge will last for around 1,000 pages, which would be more than 6 times the capacity of the paper tray, and provides a good cost per page.
The Brother HL-1112 offers a very basic feature set without the bells and whistles of more advanced models, but also with the higher price. For simple, low-volume printing needs, it is an excellent choice, especially for users who don't really need networking features.
