Brother HL-1110 Printer Review
The Brother HL-1110 is such a sleek and economical laser printer that it has even won awards for its design. It reaches maximum speeds of up to 20 pages per minute, and has an enhanced resolution of 2400x600 dpi for very sharp output quality. The price of Brother HL-1110 printer toner is a little high, and its connection options are limited, but home users should find it a good value at the price.
The HL-1110 has a similar design to its legacy models, but is a bit more modern and a bit more compact. It measures 7.4x9.4x13.4 inches, so it is a great fit as a desktop machine, and it weighs only 9.9 pounds, including the weight of the Brother HL-1110 toner supply. It is clearly meant for personal use, however, as it only comes with a USB 2.0 port. Variations on the base model include the HL-1110E and HL-1110R, which have ethernet and larger paper capacities.
The control panel is very barebones, as well, with only "Go" and "Cancel" buttons. Users will need to rely on the software and print drivers for all operations, which are compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems. The input paper tray can hold 150 sheets, which is pretty roomy for a personal model, and it can even hold 100 sheets in the output tray.
Replacement toners can be a bit expensive, especially for a home user. Each Brother HL-1110 toner cartridge has an estimated yield of 1,000 pages, so replacements won't be needed frequently. This gives Brother HL-1110 toner cartridges a reasonable cost per page, but not quite as low as some of the competition.
The HL-1110 honors its legacy with a tried-and-true design, but adds some nice modern style as well. It is an excellent value and a strong choice for home users, but it won't handle serious volume, so very busy users should probably keep looking.
