The Brother DCP-L2540DW multifunction laser printer expands on the feature set of other models in its lineup with the addition of an automatic document feeder and faster speeds. It can print up to 30 pages per minute, with sharp output of up to 2400x600 dpi. It still offers multiple capacities of Brother DCP-L2540DW printer toner, however, for better cost efficiency.

As part of the DCP-L2540 series, the DCP-L2540DW is noted for its duplexing and wireless support. While the former can help save paper and opens up more printing flexibility, the latter also makes the machine easier to set up, without users having to worry about placing it near an ethernet cable. Of course, it still includes an ethernet port for those who prefer a wired connection, and it has a USB port for individual use as well.

The design of the DCP-L2540DW includes a 35-sheet automatic document feeder for faster scanning capabilities, and it can copy documents at the same 30 pages per minute speed it can print. The unit measures 12.5 inches high and has a footprint of 16.1x15.7 inches. It weighs just less than 25 pounds, even with the Brother DCP-L2540DW toner installed. Mobile printing is also supported via AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, Cortado Workplace, and Brother's iPrint&Scan app.

With a choice of capacity in replacement toners, users can choose the standard Brother DCP-L2540DW toner cartridge if they want a lower upfront price, or high-capacity versions for a lower cost per page. The high-capacity Brother DCP-L2540DW toner cartridge more than doubles the standard supply, offering around 2,600 pages of output.

While it's probably not quite robust enough for high-volume office use, the Brother DCP-L2540DW is a good choice for a small, low-volume office. Its standalone features are more than adequate, and its Wi-Fi support and mobile printing features are very convenient.
