A very affordable price and impressive speeds of up to 38 pages per minute give the Brother DCP-8110DN laser printer an edge over its competition, especially for such a compact design. It manages to offer the multifunction features a user will need without too much bulk, and extras like duplexing and networking make it just as good for a small office as for a home user. Inexpensive Brother DCP-8110DN printer toner only serves to sweeten the deal.

A quick glance at the fairly small frame of the DCP-8110 might make some buyers surprised that it can handle printing, scanning, and copying tasks in a single device. In fact, it measures only 16.3x15.9x16.7 inches, and weighs a mere 34.4 pounds. The top of the device incorporates both a 35-pages automatic document feeder and a flatbed scanning platen, providing more options than some of its competitors.

A generous 300-sheet paper capacity is included, with up to 250 sheets in the main tray, and a second multipurpose tray that holds a maximum of 50 sheets. It doesn't support the option of an additional tray like the other models in its line, however, so what you see is what you get. The machine has both a USB connection for single users and an ethernet connection for sharing on a network, and there is a front-mounted USB port to be used for direct printing from flash drives and other devices.

Brother DCP-8110DN toner cartridges come in two sizes. Standard toners have a capacity of 3,000 pages, but there are also high-yield Brother DCP-8110DN toner cartridges with capacities of up to 8,000 pages. This makes for a lower cost per page, and user can even choose compatible Brother DCP-8110DN toner for a lower-cost alternative.

The Brother DCP-8110DN includes just about any function a home or small office could want, with the only main exceptions being faxing and wireless support. For those who don't need these options, however, it is a great value.
