Three Surprisingly Quick Ways to Enjoy Your Job

If you’re like many people, you probably like your job, but you’re far from loving it. Maybe you find yourself staring at the clock every day, counting down the hours to the weekend. Or perhaps you’re one of those workers who has learned to “milk the clock” until you reach your 40 hours and head home. What you need is an overhaul! Here are three creative ways to make work fun!

Take a Break

Many workers feel guilty about taking breaks, but your brain and body really need that time to unwind and regroup. You can compare it to recess as a kid back when you were in grade school. You probably came back inside ready to learn after a mere 15 minutes outside. It still works in adulthood!

Take time to clear your mind of all that office clutter. Try a brisk walk around the parking lot, or try a few yoga poses right at your desk. Your boss should be pleased to see how much more productive you are after you have your own recess at the office.

Make Lunch Count

What are you eating during your work day? Is your food for fuel, or is it for comfort? Many people are stress eaters or munch out of boredom. If you make every meal count, your brain and your waistline will thank you later. We need healthy lunches and snacks to keep us going all day long. If you feel like it’s an uphill battle to make healthy eating choices at work, here are ideas to make your workplace healthier for everyone.

Have Fun

Think back to your favorite job. Chances are you loved going to work because you had great co-workers and you all had a good time, both on and off the clock.

Have you forgotten how to have fun at work? If you always check your silly side in at the door, you’re really doing a disservice to everyone you work with. This is not to suggest that you should become the office clown.  It is, however, a good reminder that everyone likes to laugh every now and then. Even your boss! If you’re new to making people laugh, here are plenty of jokes to get you started.

If you’re happy, you’ll be more likely to make your boss and co-workers happy. What are some things you do to enjoy your job more? Let us know in the comments!
