Compatible with Windows operating system only, the Xerox DocuPrint XJ4C will not work with every computer system. It is designed mainly for personal use, specifically photo printing. When using the black Xerox XJ4C ink, only 4-5 pages per minute can be produced, and using color, only 1-2 pages can be printed per minute. Although these speeds are not super impressive, they will suffice for most personal users. There are only two DocuPrint XJ4C ink cartridges—one black and one tricolor—which contain cyan, magenta and yellow printer ink. These two tanks can handle virtually any task, and both do so with strong color tones and precise realism.

The color tanks of Xerox XJ4C ink can yield 375 pages each, while the black tank can only produce 255 pages. These page yields will cause users to purchase replacements more than they would prefer. A maximum resolution of 1200x600 dpi can be reach when using the DocuPrint XJ4C ink. This resolution will produce crisp text documents and vivid color photos that will appear as good, if not better, than if a lab printed them. For such an affordable price, it is hard to pass this inkjet unit up.

Xerox ImageFix software provides users with templates and guides to navigate the photo enhancing process. This software is helpful for beginners especially in showing them how to perform creative tasks. The XJ4C also prints on various types of paper, such as envelopes, photo paper and transparencies. This machine weighs less than 15 pounds, making it easy to move around and fit virtually anywhere in the home office. All around, the Xerox XJ4C is a keeper.
