The Xerox WorkCentre 4265 is a multifunction laser printer that can handle copying, email sharing, scanning, and more. With multiple configurations, buyers can choose the functions they need most, and the machine can output up to 55 pages per minute. Compared to other models in its class, however, Xerox 4265 printer toner is expensive to replace.
There are three models of the 4265 available. The 4265/S is the most basic, with copying, email, scanning, and printing functions. The 4265/X adds traditional and internet faxing, and the 4265/XF upgrades the standard paper capacity of 620 sheets to the maximum of 3,240 sheets. The two more basic models do support paper capacity upgrades, however, allowing them to expand only as need dictates.
The machine includes a duplex automatic document feeder that can hold up to 100 sheets, which makes for fast scanning. The unit measures 24.6x24.5x24.5 inches in its base configuration, which gives it a very compact footprint. With the WorkCentre 4265 toner supply installed, it weighs a fairly heavy 203 pounds. A USB 2.0 port is included, but the Gigabit ethernet port will likely see more use. Mobile printing is supported through Apple AirPrint or several of Xerox's own specialized mobile apps.
With three capacities of toners to choose from, one would think Xerox 4265 toner cartridges could be affordable. The standard supply has a yield of 6,100 pages, the high-capacity supply a yield of 14,400 pages, and the extra high-capacity WorkCentre 4265 toner cartridge has a yield of 25,900 pages. Even at the highest capacity, however, the cost per page of Xerox 4265 toner is more expensive than those of most of its competitors.
With so many features and functions on offer, the Xerox 4265 will certainly improve the workflow of a medium or large office. Its upgradeability allows for future growth, and its fast speeds are impressive. Its high supply costs are the only real disappointment.
