With the ability to print, scan, copy, fax, and email documents, the Xerox WorkCentre 3215 multifunction laser printer can handle almost anything a small office can throw at it. Despite this wide feature set, it comes at a very affordable price, and still offers speeds of up to 27 pages per minute. Wireless support is included, with mobile printing well, but Xerox 3215 printer toner is a little expensive to replace.
In addition to its quick speeds, the 3215 has a fast response time to new projects. It has a first page out time of 8.5 seconds that eliminates some of the waiting when sending a print task. It can be connected to a single PC via USB cable, but most offices will take advantage of its ethernet port for wired networking, or its Wi-Fi sharing capabilities. It also supports Apple AirPrint and Xerox's own PrintBack apps for mobile printing options.
The 3215 takes up a fair amount of space, but it is still primed for desktop use, measuring 14.4x15.8x14.3 inches. It weighs just less than 25 pounds with the WorkCentre 3215 toner in place, so it is easy to move and to set up. The automatic document feeder can hold up to 40 sheets at a time for fast scanning, but the input paper tray only holds 250 sheets, and is not upgradable in the future.
Two sizes of replacement toners help to give users more options. The standard Xerox 3215 toner cartridge can yield around 1,500 pages and is less expensive. The high-capacity WorkCentre 3215 toner cartridge can yield around 3,000 pages. Unfortunately, the overall cost of Xerox 3215 toner is higher than those of competing models.
The 3215 has a broad appeal among small office buyers thanks to an excellent feature set and quick output speeds. Extras like mobile printing add value as well, but the cost of supplies is a concern when comparing to other models.
