Good printing speed and quality are hallmarks of the Xerox DocuPrint M760 inkjet printer. The quality of Xerox and good specs make this a useful tool for the home user. For businesses, Xerox makes the Phaser ink series.Compared to its cousin, the M750, the M760 offers more buffer memory and faster printing speed. The Xerox DocuPrint M760 ink can print draft-quality black and white documents at about 6.5 pages per minute.
The Xerox M760 ink cartridges print at a default resolution of 600 x 600 dpi. Maximum resolution is rated at 1200 x 1200 dpi. Print quality is generally good even when using the printer's optional eXpress setting for more speed. The separate Xerox M760 inkjet cartridges include black, magenta, cyan and yellow, allowing for individual replacement when one ink color runs out. Each cartridge is capable of printing up to 350 pages at 5% coverage. The black ink tanks come in two sizes, including one that can print up to 400 pages and a larger tank with a capacity up to 700 pages.
Compatability with Mac OS8 and Windows 95/98, NT4 and 2000. A 150 page input tray and rear bypass tray allow for various media with the rear tray designed for banners, envelopes and thicker stock paper. Ink levels are easy to monitor with Xerox's ink level sensing InkLogic system.
The Xerox DocuPrint M760 inkjet printer gets a good review from at least one national computer publication. Its print speed, print quality and cost of use make it a good choice for the consumer who owns an older operating system. There is no support for Vista.
Orginally coming out of an alliance with Sharp, the Xerox M series printers offered the eXpress printing mode for speed and the InkLogic cartridge monitoring system to reduce waste in color inks. These features still make the M760 a good choice for a home printer.
