For small office and home office use, the Xerox DocuPrint C8 inkjet printer provides adequate printing and standard features with the Xerox name. Able to print color pages at 2.5 pages per minute, the C8 handles black and white at a reasonable 5 pages per minute. If you need a faster color printer, the Xerox Phaser ink printers should be evaluated. The Xerox DocuPrint C8 ink can also print on special paper types at the 2.5 page per minute speed. Printer dimensions are 10.5 x 13.8 x 17. Weight comes in just under 10 pounds.
Output resolution of the C8 is rated at 600 x 600 dpi on plain paper. The Xerox C8 inkjet cartridges can produce a resolution of up to 1200 x 600 dpi for photo quality printing. It's possible to print on photo paper, glossy or coated papers, labels, transparencies iron-on or card stock with the Xerox C8 ink cartridges. The C8 uses four separate ink tanks for black, yellow, magenta and cyan .
The C8 was originally compatible with Windows 95/98 and Windows NT 4.0 using a bi-directional parallel port interface. Xerox later provided drivers for operating systems through Windows XP. Bundled software includes the Xerox media pack and ImageFix software for photo touchup.
There is no parallel cable included with the C8 and no modern connectivity. On everything but the top setting, text quality is less than acceptable. The Xerox DocuPrint C8 inkjet printer produces color prints that need the tint adjusted, but are difficult to correct. Lacks an on-off switch and front paper tray also. The C8 includes standard maintenance features to troubleshoot the printer.
The old adage, you get what you pay for, may be appropriate in describing the DocuPrint C8 printer. It does not produce the crisp text printing that its cousin the XJ4C is known for. Its sole claim to fame is that it carries the Xerox name.
