Xerox C20 Printer Review

The Xerox DocuPrint C20 is quite a capable color inkjet printer that should cater to personal users quite well. Its printing speeds are a bit limited, at 8 pages per minute for black and 4 pages per minute for color. It includes only a parallel port, which is another drawback, and replacing the DocuPrint C20 printer ink can get a bit expensive.

The design of the C20 is simple and straightforward, though its 22.2 inch by 17.5 inch footprint could be a little big for some home and small office users, though its height is only 9.7 inches. The single parallel interface is becoming outdated, though a USB adapter could be used, and an optional ethernet add-on is available, but these all represent an increase in its cost.

The printing engine and Xerox C20 ink can produce images at up to 600 dpi easily. The device is capable of producing 1200 dpi images, but will likely require an upgrade to the 8 MB of internal memory to achieve it, adding yet another extra cost. The input tray accommodates 100 sheets of standard paper, which is a good fit for its intended market.

The DocuPrint C20 ink cartridges aren't drastically more expensive than other inkjet models in its category, but the use of a combined color Xerox C20 ink cartridge can increase wasted printer ink, and therefore increase costs over those with discrete tanks for each color.

Overall, the C20 is a capable printer with decent speed and a good feature set, but its outdated parallel port, limited memory, and somewhat expensive Xerox C20 ink could make it an expensive purchase in the long run.
