The fast printing speed of 50 pages per minute shows that the 5550 means business, and upgrades to the input paper capacity are possible for the high-volume office that doesn't wish to reload often, up to a maximum of 4,100 sheets. All models can also have a 40 GB hard drive added as an upgrade for storing and accessing frequently needed documents. The network port can support up to Gigabit speeds and allows the printer to be easily connected and shared across a network of computers.

They disliked its somewhat limited capacity, though it can be easily upgraded for more capacity if needed. They found its upfront price to be somewhat high, but though it was a decent value overall.
