A small or medium-sized office doesn't always know exactly what it will require in a laser printer, so the Savin MLP25n offers multiple options and upgrades to suit different needs. The base model, the MLP25, can connect via USB or parallel port, and the MLP25n model adds an ethernet network port for sharing. Both configurations are capable of printing at speeds of up to 26 pages per minute, and use the same Savin MLP25n printer toner, for a fairly low cost per page.
In addition to the USB, parallel, and ethernet connections, there are other options as well. A firewire port is available as an optional upgrade, and there are also Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modules that can be added for wireless connectivity. This might be an appealing option for offices that include a lot of laptops and mobile devices in particular.
At the heart of the unit is a 300 MHz processor to keep things moving smoothly, and it gives the MLP25n a first page out time of around 7.5 seconds. The standard 64 MB of memory should be enough for quite a lot of shared users, but this can be upgraded to a maximum of 320 MB when needed.
Numerous paper handling upgrades are available. The unit comes with a main tray of 500 sheets and a bypass tray of 100 sheets that can hold media such as envelopes, labels, and more. Users can then add up to three additional trays for a maximum capacity of 1,600 sheets.
The machine uses a single black Savin MLP25n toner cartridge that has a capacity of up to 15,000 pages. This ensures that high-volume users won't need replacements too often, and the price of Savin MLP25n toner cartridges is fairly affordable. Toners are also easy to replace.
With options for everything from wireless support to duplexing, the MLP25n allows for a lot of flexibility. With fast speeds and excellent output quality, as well as affordable Savin MLP25n toner costs, it is a good value for smaller offices that want to expand.
