The Samsung SF-565 is a monochrome laser fax machine that can also print, copy, and scan. It is designed for the small to medium office environment. Though it is generally designed as a fax machine, its multifunction capabilities make it a good choice for the office with a variety of needs. For a standard multi-functioning machine, check out the Konica Minolta 1390, which uses Konica-Minolta 1710567-001 toner.
The SF-565 does an admirable job of printing, as it includes a 600 dpi printing engine. It can print at around 17 pages per minute, which is in line with most laser printers and multifunction devices in its class. However, color printing capabilites are not offered. For color printing, a model that uses Xerox 106R01332 toner may be a better buy.
Its scanning capabilities are a bit limited. The scanning resolution is only 200 dpi or less, and it can only scan in grayscale, not in color. The scanning functions are enough for the very occasional scan, but users who need to do more scanning should consider a dedicated scanner or a more robust multifunction device. OCR (optical character recognition) software is included, and is useful for archiving scanned documents.
Scanning and copying are done from the 20 page automatic document feeder. Input paper capacity is 250 sheets, meaning less reloading. Output capacity is 150 sheets. Since the SF-565 only has one output tray, prints, faxes, and copies all share the same tray. This may get confusing, but in an affordable unit such as this one, there is no way to easily avoid it. However, something that uses Dell 310-7945 tonerwill be much more affordable overall.
Many convenient fax features are included. The unit allows users to block up to 10 numbers to keep from receiving junk faxes. The machine includes 20 one-touch numbers in memory, with a button and a label for each, making it simple to store a large number of frequent destinations for outgoing faxes.
Overall, the Samsung SF-565 is a full-featured fax machine with good quality printing capabilities. Users who want a little bit more out of their fax machine will be pleased, but many users might want to consider a full multifunction device if their needs are greater.
