Samsung ML-2571 Toner Cartridges

The Samsung ML-2571 laser printer is designed for the small networked office environment. Its fast print speeds and excellent text quality combined with a built-in ethernet port make it a great choice for the small office.

The Samsung ML-2571 laser printer is very fast for its price range. At around 16 pages per minute for text and 18 pages per minute for graphics, it doesn't quite meet its advertised speeds of 25 pages per minute, but it is still very fast. Print quality is excellent as well. Text is the standout, with sharp, defined letters that are readable down to very small font sizes. Graphics quality is a little better than average for a budget laser, with only a few minor issues cropping up.

The printer includes USB, parallel, and ethernet connections. While the built-in ethernet port is a great feature, it is important to note that the unit is probably only capable of handling a small number of networked users. Offices with a large number of users, or those with high-volume printing needs will need a model with more capacity for both paper and page yield in the toner cartridges. Still, it will do a very good job in a small office. The ML-2571N/XAA model adds extra paper capacity and finishing options.

There are only a few complaints with this model. First, it includes only 32 mb or RAM and the memory is not expandable at all. While 32 mb is a decent amount, adding multiple users to the network may start to stretch the limits of the its memory. Also, the unit includes a "starter" Samsung ML-2571 toner cartridge with a capacity of only 1,000 pages, while the standard printer toner cartridge has a capacity of 3,000 pages. This is becoming very common practice among many manufacturers, but it still feels deceptive. Toner cartridges are the same as Samsung ML-2510 toner and other models, keeping costs lower.

Overall, the Samsung ML-2571 is a great choice for a small networked office. It has the speed and print quality to serve a small network well. Despite a few gripes, it is a very good value for its price.
