The Samsung ML-2015 laser printer is geared toward personal and small office users. It offers a lot of value for the price, and supports a wide variety of operating systems.
The design of the Samsung ML-2015 laser printer is fairly compact. It measures 8.5 inches by 14.1 inches by 11.8 inches (HWD), and should be able fit into even the smallest of office spaces. In fact, the unit is compact enough to sit on a desktop, if desired, making it a good choice as a personal model. Its main paper tray holds 150 sheets, and the output tray has a capacity of 50 sheets. This will likely be more than enough capacity for a personal user, but may be limiting to a small office.
Print quality is excellent. Text is readable even as small as 2 point fonts, and is very sharp and clearly defined. Graphics quality is a little below average, with noticeable banding in gradients. For its price, however, the unit offers exceptional print quality. Print speeds are also impressive. Text prints at around 16 pages per minute, and graphics at around 15 pages per minute, more than enough speed for most personal users.
Samsung did cut some corners to achieve its affordable price point, however. First, the unit includes no USB cable. While USB cables are extremely cheap nowadays, this is even more of a reason to include one in the box. Second, the unit includes only a starter Samsung ML-2015 toner cartridge with a capacity of only 1,000 pages. The standard laser toner cartridge capacity is 3,000 pages. This means the user will be required to purchase a replacement printer toner cartridge fairly soon after purchase, adding to the cost, and making its affordable upfront cost less appealing. The model uses the same cartridges as Samsung ML-2510 toner, making it more affordable.
Overall, the Samsung ML-2015 is a very impressive laser printer, and offers great speed and print quality for the personal user. Unfortunately, Samsung cut so many corners that it lessens the value of its affordable price.
