The Samsung ML-2010 is a monochrome laser printer designed for the personal or small office user. It offers speed and quality at an affordable price, but small paper capacity and poor graphics quality may be issues for some users.
The ML-2010 has a lot to offer for its affordable price. It is quite fast for a budget personal laser printer, at 16 pages per minute for text and around 15 pages per minute for graphics prints. It also has excellent text print quality. Text is very sharp, dark, and readable at small font sizes. In fact, it offers some of the best text print quality available at its price point. Graphics quality, however, is less impressive. Graphics have a number of visible issues, from banding to fuzziness. This may not be much of an issue for most users, but is certainly a consideration.
The design of the ML-2010 is very compact. The unit measures 9 inches by 14 inches by 18 inches (HWD) and weighs only 12.8 pounds. Its small size and weight make it perfect for home office users, college students, and anyone who has a small space and wishes to be able to transport the printer occasionally. Paper capacity is very limited, probably a tradeoff for its affordable price and compact size. The printer can hold 150 sheets in the input tray, and only 50 sheets in the output tray. The paper capacity can not be expanded with optional attachments.
The printer ships with a “starter” Samsung ML-2010 toner cartridge with a capacity of 1,000 pages, while the standard cartridge holds 3,000 pages worth of ink. This represents more cost for the user, as the starter Samsung ML-2010 toner cartridge will likely need to be replaced early in the life of the printer, nullifying some of the affordable upfront price.
Overall, the Samsung ML-2010 is a solid personal printer with good speeds and good text quality. Buyers need to consider whether its small capacity and lack of upgradeability will suit their needs.
