The Samsung ML-1500, ML-1510 and ML-1520 are quite honestly the world’s smallest cassette based monochrome laser printers. While they are not the fastest on the block they will deliver quality text prints for your home or small office. They weigh around 10 pounds and have USB connectivity to speed your setup which is a breeze. They are compatible with Windows 98, 2000, Me, XP, and Linux. Sorry to say but no support for Mac on this one from Samsung. Graphics leave a bit to be desired, but are acceptable for a small printer.
Samsung has a wealth of printers sharing the same model toner cartridges. The fore mentioned monochrome laser printers along with the Samsung ML-1700 series utilize the exact same toners. However most of them ship with a smaller starter toner rated at about 1,000 sheets. The ML-1700 series has exceptional text printing, producing some of the best in class, especially at their prices. You can find an ML-1710 for about $70.00, the ML-1740 at $150.00 and the others a bit more.
The ML-1700 series prints around 17 pages per minute a bit faster than the ML-1500 series at 12 pages per minute. Not that they are blazing fast, but great for a small home office or a college student. Resolutions are higher as well at1200 by 600 dpi on the ML-1750, and ML-1755 printers; they also have a faster processor making them better at graphics than the remaining printers in these series. Unfortunately as they are, these printers are not network ready, but you could get an external print server if you really needed it.
