Samsung ML-1250 Toner Cartridges

The Samsung ML-1250 is a monochrome laser printer designed for the home or small office user. Its compact size and affordable price make it an excellent choice, but its small paper capacity might be limiting for high-volume users.

While the ML-1250 is a very compact printer, it does take up more vertical space than some personal laser printers, since the input and output trays are both located on top of the unit. This might be preferable for some users, but is worth mentioning. There is also a second output slot on the front of the unit, which is particularly useful for thick media or media that would jam easily, as it avoids the sharp curve during printing.

The printer comes with 4 MB of RAM installed, but this can be expanded to a maximum of 64 MB, which will be especially useful if the user prints a lot of large documents.

The printer's control panel is sparse, like the HP 1020 toner printer, but very useable. It consists of three status lights and two buttons. One for TonerSave which conserves toner, and another for Cancel/Reprint. Users can easily reprint the last page printed by pressing this button. Replacing the Samsung ML-1250 toner cartridge is simple, with an easy access panel on the front of the unit. Each Samsung ML-1250 toner cartridge has a capacity of 2,500, although the starter cartridge included with the printer has a capacity of only 1,000 pages, which is disappointing.

Print speed is quite fast for the price, at 12 pages per minute. Text quality is excellent, though there is some very slight line loss at very small font sizes. Graphics quality is good, but some graphics and photo prints tend to be overly dark.

Overall, the Samsung ML-1250 fits a lot of speed and print quality into an affordable, compact package. Its expandable memory sets it apart from other personal laser printers with fixed memory.
