If you need a good personal laser printer or one for a small office look no further than the ML-1200 series from Samsung. Affordability is the name of the game as more consumers want and need better quality prints at better prices. The ML-1250 can have maximum memory of 64 MB whilst the ML-1210, ML-1220M, and ML-1430 are stuck at 8 MB. Text quality is well above what you would expect from smaller monochrome laser printers. They do come with starter toner packages and this seems to be a trend in the industry with some companies.
The ML-1210, 1220M, and 1430 may not have the maxed out memory but can still print at 12 pages per minute, the ML-1010 and ML-1020 from Samsung are a bit slower but to be expected as they are older models. In fact the ML-1430 can print faster at around 15 pages per minute. You can use a toner saving setting to lengthen the life of your cartridges, of which all of these printers share. It does, however, make your documents lighter and really only works well on text prints.
If you find yourself printing a lot of graphics or PDF files you may experience a bit of a delay in the first page out time; the Samsung ML-1010 and ML-1020 will experience this as well. Graphics are handled better than expected given their price and max resolutions, but don’t expect photo qualities. The displays and user interfaces differ from model to model but shouldn’t give you too much of a problem. All of these Samsung monochrome laser printers would be a good alternative to pricey inkjets.
