It has the usual multifunction features of print, scan, fax, and copy without the bulk of some multifunction laser machines. The CLX-2160N includes a built-in ethernet port for sharing across the network, and with the included software it can not only print and fax from networked computers, but also scan documents directly to networked computers. Along with the usual copy functions, the unit also includes a unique feature, the One-click ID copy function. With this feature, you can insert an ID or business card, and it will scan both sides and print a copy of both sides of the ID or card one a single sheet of paper. While this may seem like a feature of limited utility to most, offices who copy IDs and business cards often will find this feature saves them a lot of time and paper.
One downside of the unit is its printing speed. At up to 14 pages per minute for black, it sits on the slow side for a laser. Color prints are even slower at about 3 pages per minute.
