The Samsung CLP-660 delivers good quality prints, good printing speed, and networking. However, average features and a high price for its class might lead buyers elsewhere. The Samsung CLP-660 aims to give customers some of the features of higher-end models at the price of a small-business printer. For example, the printer includes an ethernet connection, high print quality, and larger paper capacities that have typically been found on more expensive models. More recently, however, budget-priced color laser printers with higher-priced features are becoming more and more common. Because of this, the price of the CLP-660 doesn’t seem like quite the bargain. The Xerox Phaser 6125, as an example, has most of the same features for around $200 less, but does sacrifice printing speed in comparison
Speaking of speed, the CLP-660 prints around 24 pages per minute in monochrome and 24 in color. While the monochrome speed is average for the price, the color speed is faster than most. Black print quality is sharp, and readable down to fairly small font sizes. Color printing is mostly accurate and vibrant, but can sometimes suffer from pixelization when viewed up close. As with most color laser printers, this model comes with standard yield cartridges, but can be upgraded to high yield cartridges for more prints per cartridge. While the high yield cartridges cost more upfront, they result in a lower cost per page in the long run. One feature worth noting is the duplex printing option, which allows you to print double-sided, saving money on paper. This is one feature that is often an upgrade in this class of printer.
Overall, the Samsung CLP-660 is a high-quality printer with solid monochrome and color print quality, and above average print speeds. Unfortunately, the budget color laser printer class is becoming more and more crowded, and at a higher price than its competitors, the CLP-660 doesn’t have much to make it stand out.
