Samsung has series of printers, like most all manufacturers, that utilize the same toner cartridges. Granted these printers differ on features, size and speeds, they all serve different needs and thus should be considered. The CLP-300 is one of the smallest color laser printers on the market at 15.4 by 13.5 by 10.4 inches (WHD) and weighs in at almost 30 pounds. Extremely easy to use and move. The user interface on the printer is almost non-existent comprised of a single cancel button and 4 LED indicator lights. Networking is available but only on the CLP-300N model. The CLP300 is well suited for a home office or student as its text and graphics quality is average.
Now the Samsung CLX-2160 and CLX-3160 are multifunction printers in color. Both come network ready through 10/100Base TX Ethernet connections as well as being equipped with USB ports. The CLX-3160 comes with an automatic document feeder and is a light 45 pounds; the CLX 2160 weighs in at 35 pounds. Printing and copying speeds are good at around 17 pages per minute and have impeccable quality. They are a bit slower than the competition so if you want faster print speeds consider a different model. These multifunction printers are also PictBridge capable.
The Samsung CLP-300, CLX-2160 and CLX- 3160 all are very small printers by design. One of the reasons for this is their extra small toner cartridges, not that you will get less prints out of them. The smaller cartridges allow for a smaller foot print and less clutter in your office.
