Ricoh was established in 1936 by Kiyoshi Ichimura and started as a photography and camera company. Some Ricoh printers utilize a vacuum paper feed system; this system uses suction to pull the media through the print heads. Using a vacuum based system the unit is able to adjust the rate at which pages move more easily providing an improved image or text document. This system decreases the number of paper jams as the suction inherently keeps the paper in alignment with the printer heads and mechanisms. This will lower the incident of mechanical issues and solve time consuming paper jams common in printers like the Lexmark C534 toner and Dell 2310cn toner printer.
Ricoh laser printing has developed an innovative way to produce their laser toner to lower environmental impact and lower cost for their clients and consumers similar to LED technology used in printers like the Okidata C5500 toner printer. Smaller printer toner particles are the main product in toner production, but they require more energy to create than course toners. Applying a chemical and mechanical process Ricoh is able to cut the amount of impact production has on the environment; a reduction of close to 477 tons of CO2. In addition the smaller toner particles fuse at lower temperatures reducing the amount of energy needed to print. These also provide for cleaner and crisper text and color representation.
The toners, although not planned in the design, produce less waste and contribute less to the environmental impact verse similar cartridges such as the LaserJet 2600 toner and LaserJet 2840 toner. Smaller particles mean that they can be fused to the page in a more accurate fashion. More accurate toner placement creates fewer rejected documents and fewer mistakes lowering the cost per printed page. The bleeding of colors is virtually gone, and printing edge to edge has never been easier. Smaller toner particles in Ricoh laser printer toners mean less warping of documents due to full color application making in house banner and marketing materials simple, cost effective, and environmentally sound.
