This is a desktop model by dimensions, 16.5 by 21.1 by 15.7 inches, but weighs a staggering 72 pounds, and you will need a sturdy surface to place it. The white almost perfect cube has the output located atop the machine with a maximum of 250 sheets. A simple non-back lit LCD display is just in front of the output and is fairly intuitive, but you will need good lighting to see it. While warm up time is under 30 seconds, once the Ricoh Aficio CL3500 is started and running the first page is out in less than 14 seconds, which is a bit slower than the Dell 3100cn toner printer.
Toner is handled by two separate imaging drums which will save you on coloring black and white documents. The color toners can yield 6,000 pages and the black can yield 7,000, both of which are more impressive than LaserJet 3600 toner. The standard input tray of 500 sheets sits at the bottom of the front side of the unit and the by pass tray is slightly higher up. Envelope feeding is great on this printer and out performed others in its class leaving only a slight wrinkle. In addition the CL3500 has networking standard with a 10/100Base TX ethernet connection; a USB port is also standard.
Automatic duplexing is available on the Ricoh Aficio CL3500 and will help to reduce paper and toner costs in your office. A base memory of 128 MB and a 533 MHz processor allows for the production of professional prints and zippy speeds. Print at 22 pages per minute for text and a little slower for graphics.
