The Okidata C7200 color laser printer is designed for a small or medium office environment. Its large paper capacity and fast black printing speeds are impressive, but slower color printing speeds are minor drawbacks.
The design of the Oki C7200 color laser printer is straightforward. Its input trays are located at the bottom, output tray on top, and the front panel is easily accessible in the front. The unit measures 16.9 inches by 16.9 inches by 24.4 inches, and weighs 106 pounds which is significantly larger and heavier than the smaller Oki C5100 toner printer. While not the most compact printer, it doesn't have a large footprint, which will benefit small offices.
Paper capacity is large for the price, at 600 sheets. It has a 500-sheet main tray and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray, which is convenient for users who often use more than one type or size of paper. It supports a wide range of media types, including transparencies, envelopes, labels, and card stock.
A number of expansion options are available. An automatic duplexing unit can be added as an upgrade. Ethernet networking is available as an upgrade, but is also already built in to the C7200n model. Paper capacity can be upgraded to a maximum of 1,690 sheets.
Okidata C7200 toner cartridges have a capacity of 10,000 pages for each color laser toner cartridge, and 10,000 for each black printer toner cartridge. High-yield cartridges are also available, with a capacity of 30,000 pages. This is a much more economical choice, as it gives users the lowest cost per page.
Print speed is decent. Black printing speed is 20 pages per minute, but color printing speed is a bit disappointing, at 12 pages per minute. Text quality is excellent, but graphics and photos have some color inaccuracies and fuzziness.
Overall, the Oki C7200 is a solid printer with a nice range of expandability and upgrade options. It is held back by slow color speeds and lackluster photo and graphics performance, however.
