The Okidata C7100 is a color LED printer designed for the small or medium office environment. It offers fast speeds in both color and monochrome, and excellent print quality. If the upfront cost is too high, evaluate the Oki C5500 toner printer. Networking support makes it easy to connect and share. The C7100 uses LED technology for printing. LED is similar to laser printing, but has fewer moving parts, and in many cases is faster than laser printing.
The design of the C7100 is straightforward, but it may be a little too bulky for some small office environments. Paper capacity is very good, at 630 sheets total. The main tray holds 530 sheets, while the multipurpose tray holds 100 sheets. A second and third tray can be added, which add 530 sheets each for a total of 1,690 sheets. This expandability gives the OKI C7100 a lot of room to grow, which makes it an excellent choice for an office expecting to grow in the future.
The printer has a built-in ethernet port for connecting it directly to a network. It also has an embedded web server which can be accessed by any network user via a browser on a networked computer. This interface allows user's access to many settings and functions of the printer, as well as status updates.
Okidata C7100 toner cartridges are divided into cyan, magenta, yellow, and black cartridges, similar to most color laser printers. Each Okidata C7100 toner cartridge has a capacity of 10,000 pages. Using third-party compatible OKI C7100 cartridges instead of the branded cartridges can save even more money.
Print quality is excellent. Text is very sharp and detailed. Graphics and photos look excellent, though the LED toner tends to look a little glossier than most color laser prints. It probably won't be noticeable to most people, however. Print speed is around 16 pages per minute for color and 24 pages per minute for monochrome.
Overall, the OKI C7100 is an excellent color printer with excellent networking capabilities. Its toner is also affordable, resulting in cost savings over other printers.
