| The Oki C5500n is among the fastest color laser printers in its price range, and it outpaces several more-expensive printers. The Oki C5500n, C5500, C5800 and C5800dtn all belong to the same general Okidata printer series, and use the same Oki toner cartridges. Overall, Oki C5500n toner cartridge output quality is more than adequate for most business use, but slightly below par for text and graphics. Text quality output for Okidata C5500 toner cartridges is actually a mixed bag. Characters are well formed and have crisp edges. Most fonts are easily readable at 4 points, but some stylized fonts require a higher point size for the toner to be legible. If this were the whole story, the quality of the Oki C5500n toner cartridge output would be on a par with most lasers. But the Oki C5500 / C5800 toner is so shiny that it reflects light under some lighting conditions, making it hard to read from some angles. Graphics produced by the Oki C5500n and C5800 are more than sufficient for any internal business use. Photos produced by the Okidata C5400n toner cartridges were oversaturated and a little dark, making the colors look muddy. In general, the Oki C5500n emphasizes speed over high-end print quality and is a superb fit for small offices that need to print lots of pages but don't need high print quality from the Oki 5500n toner cartridges.
