The Okidata C5300 is a color laser printer designed for the small to medium office. Its networking features make it a good choice for a networked office, but its print quality is a little unimpressive.
The design of the OKI C5300 is relatively compact, allowing it to fit into a smaller office without taking up too much space. Its front panel includes a 2-line LCD screen and an array of buttons for accessing its many options and functions. This implementation works fairly well until there is a problem, as the 2-line screen is often not enough to easily explain the problem and its proposed solution. Often, the C5300 refers the user to the manual in the case of a problem, but in a busy office, it may be difficult for most users to track down the manual, requiring more manpower than might otherwise be needed.
Print speeds are quite good, at 20 pages per minute in black and 12 page per minute in color. Its paper capacity is generous, with a 300 page standard tray, and a 100 sheet multipurpose tray. Print quality is slightly below average, however. Text is mostly sharp, but loses definition and readability at smaller fonts. Color prints range from average to abysmal, exhibiting inaccurate colors and a somewhat glossy look to the ink.
Where the C5300 really shines is in its network implementation. Though the printer can be connected directly to a host PC via USB, most users, particularly in an office setting, will use the included ethernet port. The printer does a great job of walking you through the steps necessary to connect and share the printer on the network, and it should quickly become available to all users. Once connected, users can access the printer via its internal web server, where they can view status, change settings, and manage print jobs.
Okidata C5300 toner cartridges are the ideal size for a small to medium office setting. At 5,000 pages, Okidata C5300 toner cartridges will not disappoint.
Overall, the Okidata C5300 is a capable printer with some very well-implemented networking features at a great price. Unfortunately, poor print quality makes it difficult to recommend.
