The Lexmark X772 color laser printer is designed for the large office environment. Its multifunction features are top notch, and it has the expandability to adapt to many office sizes, but its printing speeds could be faster, though still producing more than some of the competition, such as the HP CP3505 toner printer.
The Lexmark X772 color laser printer, also known as the X772e, is a multifunction device capable of printing, copying, faxing and scanning in both monochrome and color. It also has built-in networking support, allowing it to be connected directly to a network for easy sharing. It has the capability to do PC faxing, allowing users to send a fax directly from their own computer as easily as sending a document to be printed. This also saves time and paper, as it removes the step of printing a page before faxing it.
The unit is equipped with a 50-page automatic document feeder, allowing users to quickly scan multiple pages for copying, scanning, or faxing. There is also a flatbed scanning surface for materials that can't be fed through the machine, and can handle up to legal size paper. Paper capacity is 1,600 sheets, but can not be expanded further, so large offices will need to ensure it will meet their needs.
Lexmark X772 toner cartridges are more expensive than competing models, making it a more expensive machine to own. Each color laser toner cartridge has a capacity of 10,000 pages, and the black printer toner cartridge has the same 10,000 page capacity. A toner save mode is available, helping to reduce toner usage.
Print speed is slower than many competing units, at only 25 pages per minute. Text quality is sharp, with detailed and dark characters. Toner save mode has very little effect on quality. Graphics are average, so if high-quality intricate color prints is a priority, consider investing in the Xerox 8550 ink printer.
Overall, the Lexmark X772 has excellent print quality and a great set of features, but it loses value for its slow speeds and expensive toner costs.
