The Lexmark X762 color laser printer is a multifunction device designed for the large office environment. Its numerous functions are well-designed and integrated, but it has mediocre printing speeds, though faster than some competing models such as the HP 2550 toner printer.
The Lexmark X762 color laser printer, also known as the X762e, is a large, high-capacity printer that is tailored for the busy office environment. Its 1,100 page capacity is large enough for very large offices of multiple users, though its paper capacity can not be expanded further, which might limit its appeal. Ethernet networking is built in, so it is easy to connect and share it across a network of computer users. The unit has a built-in server which can be accessed remotely, for viewing status updates, managing print jobs, or changing settings.
Along with printing, it can also copy, scan, and fax. Faxing transmission speeds of Super G3 at 33.6 kbps is supported, and all the expected fax features are included and easily accessed. An automatic document feeder allows for scanning, copying, or faxing multiple pages at once easily, and a flatbed scanner allows users to scan items that won't fit in the document feeder, such as stapled pages or heavy books.
Lexmark X762 toner cartridges come in two capacities. The standard color laser toner cartridge has a capacity of 6,000 pages. The high-yield printer toner cartridge has a capacity of 15,000 pages. Color and black cartridges have the same capacities. Toner is a little more expensive than competing units.
Print and copy speed is a the most disappointing aspect, at only 25 pages per minute for both black and color. At these speeds, it lags well behind other competing units at a similar price. Text quality is sharp, but graphics are a little below average for a laser. For more crisp and clear graphics, check out the magicolor 2530 toner printer.
Overall, the Lexmark X762 has an impressive array of features, but slow speeds and expensive toner costs reduce its value when compared to similar models.
