The Lexmark X752 color laser printer is designed for medium or large office environments. It offers the full array of office functions, and fits nearly every need, but its slow speeds and expensive toner costs are disappointing.
The Lexmark X752 color laser printer, also known as the X752e, is a multifunction device, capable of printing, scanning, copying, and faxing. Unlike some units, none of its functions are particularly weak, so it is able to replace multiple pieces of equipment. Paper capacity is 1,000 sheets, divided between two drawers. For a lower-volume option, check out the LaserJet 2600 toner printer.
The unit has built-in ethernet networking support, allowing it to be connected directly to a network, and shared among multiple users. It can configure itself in most network situations, assigning its own IP, and requiring no other setup. Automatic duplexing is supported, which can reduce costs by saving paper usage.
Along with a fast faxing transmission time of 33.6 kbps, PC faxing is also supported, allowing users to send a fax directly from a PC as if they were sending the document to a printer. This a very convenient option that saves paper and time by not having to print a document before faxing it.
Lexmark X752 toner cartridges are more expensive than average, raising the cost of ownership over competing units. Each color printer toner cartridge has a capacity of either 6,000 or 15,000 pages, and each black printer toner cartridge comes in the same sizes.
Print speed is disappointing. At 20 pages per minute for both black and color prints, it is much slower than many competing units at the same price point, though much more efficient than the LaserJet 3550 toner printer. Text is sharp and detailed, but graphics and photo quality is sometimes inaccurate, with some blotchiness and loss of detail.
Overall, the Lexmark X752 has virtually every feature and office could need, but really lacks the speed of its competition. High toner costs make it a poor choice for the office on a budget.
