For home and small office users who want a lot of functionality for a very low price, they should give the Lexmark X75 a close look. It offers many features in a compact and affordable package. Print speeds are fairly fast, at up to 11 pages per minute for black and 6 pages per minute for color. Unfortunately, the high cost of Lexmark X75 ink is its biggest downside. Another printer option would be Xerox, who uses solid ink, such as Xerox 108R00727 ink which has a much lower cost per page.
The unit has a maximum print resolution of up to 2400 dpi, although printing at the highest quality setting will slow down print speeds. It supports a wide variety of media types, including envelopes, transparencies, banners, labels, and more. The color Lexmark X75 inkjet cartridge incorporates all three colors in a single cartridge, just like HP 99 ink, which can result in wasted ink and higher costs. They also liked its included software, finding it very helpful in getting projects printed easily. They found its print quality to be subpar except at the highest setting, which slows printing down considerably, and found ink costs to be high.
Overall, the Lexmark X75 offers a lot of functionality for its very low price, but high ink costs and disappointing print quality may not be worth the tradeoff. If users find that is the case, perhaps the next purchase should be an Epson unit which uses lower costing, higher yielding ink like Epson T069420.
