The Lexmark X5470 multifunction printer is geared toward small office users who want a basic machine at a very low price. It adds enough functionality to handle most office tasks, but lacks networking support for sharing. Print speeds are solid, at up to 25 pages per minute for black and 18 pages per minute for color. Its low upfront price is somewhat negated by the high cost of Lexmark X5470 ink.

There is a black cartridge, a color cartridge, which includes all three colors in a single unit, and a photo color cartridge, which is recommended when printing photos. Unfortunately, the cost of buying and replacing three Lexmark X5470 inkjet cartridges results in a high cost of ownership for the user.

The unit even has a few consumer-friendly features, such as memory card slots and a PictBridge-enabled USB port for connecting digital cameras and their memory cards.
Cnet rated the Lexmark X5470 inkjet 3 out of 5 stars. They praised its low price, its memory card slots, and its automatic document feeder. They disliked its mediocre print quality, slow copy speeds, and the fact that there is only one input paper tray.
Overall, the Lexmark X5470 may appeal to small office users with basic needs, or a home user who needs some basic office features. Most serious office users will probably find it a bit limited on features, however.
