The multifunctioning Lexmark X5410 inkjet printer is designed for the home or small office user, but it includes a few extras like an ADF that will appeal to more serious office users. Print speeds are decent, at up to 18 pages per minute for black and 25 pages per minute in draft mode, but higher-quality printing will be slower. The real downside for this machine is the high cost of Lexmark X5410 ink.
Like many of Lexmark's printers, the X5410 requires a photo Lexmark X5410 inkjet cartridge to achieve the best photo quality. Since it only has room for a color Lexmark X5410 ink cartridge and an optional black cartridge, users must swap the color and photo inkjet cartridges when printing photos, then swap back if they want to use the color cartridge again. This extra cartridge, and the high cost of ink in general, makes it less appealing than competing models with much lower ink costs.
The Lexmark X5410 ink printer can also operate as a standalone copy machine. It does a good job of copying, and it even has convenient 1-touch buttons for making quick copies. However, due to the high cost of ink, it is not a very economical choice for this purpose. The included automatic document feeder is a nice touch, but it would be nice if it could hold more pages at once. Still, having this feature in such an affordable machine is a nice bonus.
User reviews of the Lexmark X5410 ink are mixed. Many users liked low price and feature set, but many users complain of high ink costs and high ink usage, even for basic printing. Others had problems with alignment and drivers that caused the machine to either stop functioning or only partially function.
