The Lexmark X125 is an all-in-one color inkjet printer with printing, faxing, copying and scanning capabilities. It bundles a lot of excellent features into a compact and affordable machine. Print speed is good, at up to 12 pages per minute for color and 16 pages per minute for black. Lexmark X125 ink is more expensive than most competing models, however.
Despite a lot of functionality in a single package, the machine is not particularly bulky. It maintains a compact size that will fit into small spaces quite well. It measures 7.5x17.4x12.7 inches and weighs around 5 pounds. Included in the box are a color Lexmark X125 ink cartridge and a separate black Lexmark X125 ink cartridge. Users who want the best photo printing quality will want to add the optional photo cartridge.
Considering the compact size of the unit, it is surprising how much functionality is included. The product can print, scan, copy and fax. Each function is well-designed; however, copying and scanning are a little limited by the lack of a flatbed surface. Instead, these functions are limited to documents that can be fed through the document feeder. This rules out the ability to scan books, stapled pages or other larger materials. This may not be much of an issue for many, but it is a factor worth considering, as other models offer flatbed scanning for a similar price.
In their review of the inkjet printer, Tom's Hardware found its low initial cost and its quality of scanned documents to be excellent. They disliked its printer ink quality and found it to be somewhat noisy in operation.
Overall, the X125 is a solid all-in-one machine with great functions and features. Users who have the space for a larger machine may prefer one with a flatbed scanning surface for more versatility. The high cost of Lexmark X125 ink makes it more expensive to own than competing models. The price of printer ink really adds up.
