The Lexmark Optra T612 laser printer is designed for the small or medium office environment. Its has a great balance of affordable price, fast speeds, and expandability that makes it a good fit for many different office sizes.
At first glance, the Lexmark T612 laser printer seems to be designed with the small office in mind, but a closer look at its many expansion options shows its versatility, which allows it to fit an office of almost any size, or to grow along with the changing needs of a small office, much like the HP Q6511X toner printers.. For example, the T612s initial paper capacity of 600 sheets, already impressive for the price, can be expanded to a maximum of 3,100 sheets as the need arises. An optional 2.1 GB hard drive can be added, for storing and archiving documents directly in the unit for later access or printing.
The unit comes in three configurations. The T612 model is the standard model, the T612N includes built-in networking, and the T612V adds a USB connection in addition to the standard parallel port. Most small offices will want to at least opt for the network-capable models, as it allows the unit to connect directly to a network for sharing.
Lexmark Optra T612 toner cartridges have a capacity of 10,000 pages for each black laser toner cartridge. High-yield Lexmark T612 toner cartridges are also available, with a capacity of 25,000 pages for each printer toner cartridge. This capacity is slightly higher than competing models such as HP CC364X toner. Using third-party compatible T612 cartridges will bring costs down and result in a much lower cost per page.
Print quality is excellent. Text is very sharp and defined, and readable at small font sizes. Graphics quality is average, but quite usable, though you might get better graphics from Canon C106 toner. Print speed using the T612 toner is 20 pages per minute.
Overall, the Lexmark Optra T612 is an impressive machine with fast speeds, excellent quality, and the multiple configurations and expandability to fit almost any need.
