The Lexmark Optra E310 toner cartridge laser printer is designed for the home or small office user. It offers excellent print quality, but its slower speeds and slightly high price tag makes it less appealing than competing units.

The Lexmark E310 laser printer is one of many small office printers that aims to strike a good balance between compact size, fast speeds, and affordable price, unlike the Lexmark C534 toner printer. Unfortunately, its price is higher than many competing units, and many of those offer faster speeds. It does manage to have a very compact design that will appeal to offices with tight spaces. It measures 10.8 inches by 13.6 inches by 16.5 inches, and weighs only 16.5 pounds.

Paper capacity is 150 sheets, which may be a bit small for many users, but is typical of its class. Lack of a second multipurpose tray may be an issue for users who often use more than one size or type of paper, as a single drawer requires users to empty the tray before loading a second paper type. The unit does have a single-sheet bypass slot for alternate media, but this requires feeding pages one at a time for printing.

Lexmark E310 toner cartridges come in two sizes. Standard Lexmark Optra E310 toner cartridges have a capacity of 3,000 pages each, while the high-yield laser toner cartridge has a capacity of 6,000 pages. Using the high-capacity printer toner cartridge will result in a lower cost per page, even though its upfront cost is a bit higher, saving more money in the long run. The empty toner cartridges can be accessed easily and replaced quickly.

Print speed is slow, at 8 pages per minute, and lags behind most of the competition. Print quality is excellent, with very sharp and dark text, and graphics quality is quite good as well.

Overall, the Lexmark E310 has solid print quality to offer, but its higher price and slow print speeds make it difficult to recommend over its competition.
