Short, squatty, decorative and quick are all terms that could be used to describe the Lexmark E230 and E240 series of monochrome laser printers. Printing text and information slowly is a time sucker with older inkjet printers, but with these affordable printers you can print close to 17 pages per minute depending on the model. The E230 is the slowest and has a lower processor speed than the rest at 100 MHz, the E232, E234 and E240 all have at least a 200 MHz processors and make graphics production slightly better. The low 16 MB, 32 MB on the E240, memory should be expanded for higher demanding graphics printing; there is a maximum of 80 MB.
Networking is made possible through USB and Ethernet connections; the Ethernet connections are optional on these models, but some of the higher end models have it standard. These printers share the same toner cartridges with the E330 and E340 Lexmark series printers. Toner is easily replaced and should give you few problems. Although the E330 and E332 are rated as workgroup printers, the E330 is better suited to home or small office use for its lower quality graphics printing.
The E340 prints at close to 27 pages per minute which is a bit much for home use but a great feature of a small business. All of the latter printers, the E330, E332, and E340 have networking options for your small office or workgroup via an Ethernet connection. This is optional on some models. From price to performance these monochrome printers perform as expected for their classes and prices.
