Lexmark was founded in 1991 as an IBM spin off company, and delivers solutions to the digital document world. Lexmark printers are marked by the use of a single miniature rotating mirror to reflect the laser to fuse the toner to the page being printed. This technology is currently available on the E series of Lexmark printers. The miniature mirror provides more accurate placement of toner on the page. This allows the printer to use less toner and provide cleaner text and graphics production. Using less toner reduces the cost per printed page as well as waste and lowers the environmental impact of using color and black toners.
The accuracy of placing the toner particles to the page increases the color representation and shade rendering more accurately. The miniature details of fonts and nuances of color in photographs are reproduced with higher quality and at a lower cost. The use of a single mirror also lowers the number of moving parts which lowers the cost of maintenance. Fewer moving mechanical parts means a lower chance for breakage and paper jams, saving time and money better used in other capacities. It also increases the speed at which a device can print without sacrificing quality or text definition.
In addition Lexmark toner cartridges are equipped with semiconductors to improve performance and record usage statistics. The semiconductors ensure the proper calibration of color and black toners are applied to the document during printing. More consistent prints means less rejected prints and less cost in waste increasing productivity and performance. The semiconductors also store usage data for research and developing new toners and printing systems based upon the data retrieved. Only Lexmark OEM toners have this ability which enables Lexmark to provide more specialized and advanced printing and imaging solutions.
