Like most color laser printers the Lexmark C500 series are monolithic printers. At almost 70 pounds and no handles you will need help moving this back breaking printer. The base model, the C500, has a standard input capacity of 250 sheets and can have an additional 530 page tray added to increase the total to 780 sheets. Lexmark toner is available in both standard and high capacity cartridges.
These are only meant for up to A4 sized paper; a legal sized tray is sold separately. The base input varies from model to model within the C500 series. The front of the machine swings open to reveal the single pass LED technology and toners. This single pass method saves you time and money by having less moving parts and quicker warm up times.
The LCD is a two line black and white set up with no back lighting making it hard to see in low light areas, and consists of simple calibration and basic configuration. This printer series is well suited for an office with high demands on monochrome printing as it belches out documents at about 19 pages per minute and in great resolution.
Color is a little lacking and would be best suited for occasional uses such as accents in a report or internal reports. Color graphics shows some banding but not bad if used for simple applications. Color text was handled quite well and only showed signs of dithering at small font sizes. The C500 series from Lexmark is a bit noisy and you may want to put it in a low traffic area to minimize the noise interference.
