The Lexmark C532 is a color laser printer designed for the small or medium office environment. It has fast print speeds and can handle high volume printing. Lack of a multipurpose tray is a downside.
Small office printers are often designed for small spaces and only a few users. Consequently, they often can not handle high volume printing needs. The Lexmark C532 combines the affordable price of a small office printer with the capability to handle high printing volumes.
The C532 comes with a standard 250-sheet tray and a single-sheet manual feed slot. Unfortunately, it does not have a multipurpose tray, though it can be expanded with an optional 550 sheet drawer for significantly more total capacity. This allows the C532 to handle even more high-volume printing, and its 65,000 page monthly duty cycle gives it plenty of room for expansion. The printer’s 375 MHz processor and 128 MB of RAM also ensure that it can handle a large number of networked users without slowing down.
There is a tradeoff for the C532’s capacities and speed, and that is its fairly bulky design. The printer measures 19 inches by 17 inches by 20 inches and weighs 57 pounds. This is quite large and heavy for a small office printer, and users with limited space will need to steer clear. The control panel on the C532 leaves a bit to be desired as well, as it has no backlight, and is placed at an awkward angle, making it difficult to read in some situations.
Print speed is around 15 pages per minute. This speed is for both monochrome and color prints, which is rare for a laser printer, as color prints are usually slower. Print quality is excellent, especially for text. Color prints are a little below average, with inaccurate colors and poor flesh tones cropping up in some prints.
