More current models have at least double the resolution, but for an older inkjet unit, the 3100 is pretty impressive.

The paper trays on this inkjet unit fold in to prevent over-consumption of space, and there is an indicator to let users know when printer ink is low. The two 3100 Lexmark ink cartridges can yield 275 pages for tricolor and 420 pages for black. If used for higher-volume printing, these tanks will need to be replaced frequently. Replacement Lexmark 3100 ink can be found online from third party vendors, and it is far more affordable than OEM versions.

Printing 5-6 pages per minute using black Lexmart 3100 ink and 2-3 pages per minute in color, this machine clearly is not the fastest on the market. However, the consistency and dependability of it seem to attract home users. Critics have bashed it for its lack of efficiency and mediocre quality, but many users prefer it to others in its class due to the price tag.

At the end of the day, most people just want a printer that will work. The Lexmark 3100 requires little maintenance and has proven to be completely reliable.
