At about a foot deep and a little wider the Konica Minolta Pagepro 1350W monochrome laser printer is the printer for you. The machine sells for under $150.00 and spits out monochrome documents at 13 pages per minute. The Pagepro 1350W has an internal engine that delivers 1200 dpi by 1200 dpi documents and grayscales with good quality. However it supports GDI page description so will not be suited for Linux and Mac users.
Toner cartridges are a bit tricky to install but not hard as the Pagepro 1350W is a small powerhouse printer. You can opt to use the extended capacity cartridges for longer and more cost effective life of toner. Although the unit prints crisp clean text, it is not recommended for black and white photography prints. Black text is printed bold and true with very little if any dithering.
The monochrome laser printer comes with USB 1.1 and parallel ports, but with an external print server could be networked. A workgroup may be able to utilize the Pagepro 1350W if they do not have heavy print demands as the input capacity is 150 sheets, and the output, although stated to 100, overflows a bit sooner. The 1350W does accept a variety of paper sizes as well, attributing more to its value. It prints well on card stock, transparencies, large envelopes and heavier weight paper stock.
