The Konica Minolta Magicolor 2200 is a color laser printer designed for the small office environment. It has excellent print quality in both color and monochrome, and a very affordable price. Built-in networking is a nice plus.
The design of the Konica Minolta 2200 is a bit on the bulky side, but given its large paper capacity and needing to store larger Konica Minolta 2200 toner cartridges it is understandable. The printer measures 20.1 inches by 18.2 inches by 21.3 inches (HWD) and weighs around 103 pounds. Its size takes it out of the running for home use, as does a lack of a USB port. The printer does have a built-in ethernet port for networking, however, so it is easily shared across a network of users.
Paper capacity is quite large, at 650 pages. This is divided among three separate trays, allowing multiple media types to be loaded at once. It can support up to legal size paper. The 2200 can handle relatively large document sizes, as it includes 32 MB of RAM, but this can also be expanded to a maximum of 96 MB if necessary.
Konica Minolta Magicolor 2200 toner cartridges are arranged in the usual configuration of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. Each Konica Minolta 2200 toner cartridge has a capacity of 6,000 pages, meaning users will not have to replace cartridges often, even in a fairly high-volume environment. Using third party compatible Konica Minolta Magicolor 2200 toner can reduce cost per page and still give a high quality print.
Print speed is quite fast, at 20 pages per minute for monochrome and 5 pages per minute for color. Print quality is excellent across the board, especially given the printer's affordable price. Text is very sharp and defined, even at small font sizes. Graphics and photos look excellent, with mostly accurate colors and very little banding or blotchiness.
Overall, the Konica Minolta 2200 is an excellent color laser at an affordable price. Lack of a USB port is a strange omission, but most small offices will be able to use its ethernet port.
