The HP OfficeJet V40 is an all-in-one inkjet printer with the capacity to fax, copy and scan as well as print lab quality color photos. Though this unit is pushing 10 years old, it can still play with the big boys of business-oriented devices. Printing 8 pages per minute using black HP V40 ink and 7 pages per minute in color, this unit set a high standard in the early years of this decade. It can also make up to 4 copies per minute with black printer ink and 2 copies per minute using the 32 bit internal color depth. The V40 can fax a single document in 6 seconds and can scan at a maximum resolution of 600x1200 dpi. The OfficeJet V40 ink allows for color printing at a resolution of 2400x1200 dpi and 600x1200 dpi for copies.
Using the drop-on-demand PhotoRet III system and HP's Color Layering Technology, text documents and color images are perfectly clear and crisp with a finish that rivals professionals. There are two HP V40 ink cartridges, one black and the other tri-color which consists of cyan, yellow and magenta. Both OfficeJet V40 ink cartridges have a page yield of around 500. There is an optional high capacity color printer ink tank available, which has a much higher page yield.
