HP R80 Printer Review

All-in-one inkjet units are easy to find. However, there are so many options that it is hard to choose the right one. Small businesses will want to take a look at the HP OfficeJet R80. This unit features a copier, scanner, fax machine and color printer. Though it does not have the fastest operating speed or the highest resolutions, it can produce crisp and clear documents that will appease the needs of most low-volume office environments.

The HP R80 ink can print with a resolution of 600x600 dpi and copy or scan at 600x2400 dpi. Though more current and more expensive models produce much higher resolutions, these are still acceptable and will produce professional-quality prints.

The OCR (Optical Character Recognition) flatbed scanner can convert scanned text into editable text and can handle bulky jobs, like textbooks. The inkjet copier can make 99 copies from a single original document and can zoom anywhere from 50%-400%. The fax machine has 100 speed dials and a 100 page memory. It will automatically redial up to 5 times, and it will send a page in 6 seconds with a transmission speed of 14.4 Kbps.

When printing or copying with only black HP R80 ink, up to 11 pages per minute can be produced. As many as 8.5 pages per minute can be delivered using the color printer ink. There are two different OfficeJet R80 ink cartridges, one black and one tricolor. The tricolor tank consists of cyan, magenta and yellow printer ink.

Replacement HP R80 ink cartridges are available in new or remanufactured. The remanufactured ink is less than half the price of OEM. Some consumers who have owned this unit for years have complained about the low yield of the OfficeJet R80 ink. However, most users appreciate the reliability. It is nice to have a printer that can be counted on to continue printing, and the R80 provides that.
