The HP LaserJet M2727 is a monochrome laser printer with multifunction features designed for the small or medium office environment. It has fast speeds and a great feature set, but competing models, like the Dell 3115cn that uses Dell 310-8092 toner, offer more for the same price.
The HP M2727's design is somewhat bulky and large, owing to its multifunction features. It measures 18 inches by 19.7 inches by 16 inches (HWD) and weighs around 38 pounds. Needless to say, it has a large footprint, and will take up a fair amount of space.
The multifunction features of the HP M2727 include printing, scanning, copying, and faxing. Users can scan to a file or scan directly to email. The printer includes OCR (optical character recognition) software on a second disc, which is useful for converting scanned documents to editable, searchable text. Scanning can be done using the flatbed scanning surface or the 50 page automatic document feeder, allowing up to 50 pages to be fed through and scanned automatically.
Copying includes the standard features one would expect. Reducing and enlarging can be done from 25 to 400 percent. Up to 99 copies can be made at once, and automatic duplexing (two-sided copies) are supported, as well as scanning and copying of two-sided originals. The copy and print functions also support 2-up and 4-up printing, which can print 2 or 4 pages onto a single page.
Print speed is good, at around 19 pages per minute for text. Print quality is very sharp and defined, though graphics quality is a little below expectations even for a laser printer. Unfortunately, print speed and quality are on par with less-expensive competing models, some of which like the Lexmark C522 which features Lexmark C5240CH toner, include color printing for around the same price, making the M2727 a lesser value for the money.
Two different capacities are available for the HP LaserJet P2015 toner cartridges. The standard HP P2015 toner cartridge has a moderate capacity of 3,000 pages. While this is fine for a small to medium office with a moderate work load, using the high-yield HP P2015 toner cartridge which has a capacity of 7,000 pages will greatly lower the per page cost even though the upfront cost of the high-yield HP LaserJet P2015 cartridge is higher. The cost per page using this printer toner is much more affordable than similar toners, like Konica-Minolta 1710580-001 toner.
Overall, the HP LaserJet M2727 is a very capable and well-designed multifunction printer, but it offers nothing to stand out from the competition. Competing models offer more for the money.

The LaserJet M2727 takes the same fast print speeds and high-quality output of other models in its lineup and adds multifunction copying and scanning features as well. Its control panel is easy to use, and the printer can output up to 27 pages per minute, making it a good fit for a busy small office.
Although the model shown differs in appearance, the process is the same.

Before installation, pull the loose end of the packing tape away from the cartridge until it is completely removed as well.
Align the new HP M2727 toner cartridge with the guides on both sides of the opening, then slide it into place. Press firmly on the cartridge to make sure it is inserted all the way, then close the access panel.
