The HP Deskjet F2214 is a basic all-in-one printer that has the ability to make copies and scan documents. It is a little older and tends to lack some of the features that would attract small businesses, like faxing and networking. However, for home users with standard printing needs, this unit is a perfect choice. It can make vivid color photos and graphics on various types of paper as well as strong and crisp text documents.
There are two HP F2214 ink cartridges that come standard with this inkjet printer. One contains black printer ink while the other holds 3 different colors—yellow, magenta and cyan. There is also another optional tank of Deskjet F2214 ink that is specifically designed to enhance photos with more precise colors. When printing photos, the black HP F2214 ink must be removed to install the special photo ink.
When printing exclusively with the black Deskjet F2214 ink, this unit can produce up to 20 pages per minute. Using only color printer ink, it can print as many as 14 pages per minute. Unfortunately, the page yield of all of these HP F2214 ink cartridges is under 200 pages. With a maximum monthly duty cycle of 1,000 pages, if the F2214 is used to its full capacity, users will be replacing these ink tanks as many as 5 times a month.
The HP F2214 can copy at approximately the same rate as it can print. It can also zoom up to 400%. The scanner has a resolution of 1200x2400 dpi and a 48-bit color depth. This machine is compatible with Windows and Mac and houses a high speed USB 2.0 connection. It uses drop on-demand thermal inkjet technology, which uses nozzles to disperse the HP F2214 ink in drops per inch of paper. All around, this printer is solid, though not the best on the market.
